Not to sound preachy - but keep in mind that it takes a while to get the hang of it. Before you dig something (and at first you should dig everything), try to think "what is there about this signal that might help me know what this is next time I detect one?"

As far as hot spots, the best place is if you have friends/relatives with old property that hasn't been hunted. Easy to find old coins there. If you just want to find clad, any schoolyard, playground, etc.

    Have fun,
    Wally

    good luck.
I've been using a Whites (now: DFX) for years.

    Love their machines.

Sure, best best at first is either an active beach or a school, or park.
Just don't get frustrated, and dig everything.

Also--- IMPORTANT: Fill those holes. Or you'll get banned fast as all heck at that school or park.
Also, take the trash with you.
Why? Sure they dropped it, but you'll be welcomed back.
