    Hello everyone,
    Happy New Year to all!

Yesterday I went out Metal Detecting for the first time in 2025. It was great weather so I took advantage and went to Hunter Island with 2 of my friends.

They didn't find anything spectacular but I did.
    No silver though.

    Here are my finds

Like you said, no silver but what you did find is better than silver. I think silver may be in your next outing.

Good start to the year. I remember the "cool" kids of which I was not one, putting those subway tokens into the slot on the top of their penny loafers.

The medal reminds me of Gandolf speaking to the Balrog at the bridge.

Was hunters Island an old dump. How did it get it's name?

It's not really an island. It's a peninsula in an area of the Northeast Bronx. We find old foundations, wells and cooking pits.
There are many deer, foxes and owls in that location.

    Here is some great information

Yes. We park at the Orchard Beach parking lot. Hunter Island is to the left with 2 or 3 entrances with paths to get in.

The yellow arrow is pointing to the Hunter Island Peninsula

The Verdun medal is a cool bit of WW1 history.

They need to get you out on the set of the series "Curse of Oak Island". Maybe, after a decade of abysmal failure, you'll find some treasure there. :D
