12-13-2020 Hello Everyone, Today I did a 3 hour Metal Detecting hunt at my local park.. Our Detecting club all went to Prospect park and I'm waiting for their report on finds there. My goal today was to hit some areas where I have found silvers to search for Nickels. If you look at my past threads I show very few or don't show any Nickels at all. Thats because I'm using a Discrimination mode on my machine to detect only the high numbers where silver, clad and copper fall under. So todag I set up the lower numbers and found that the Nickels were everywhere! I even found a dateless Buffalo Nickel.. Nickels - Wheat Cents - The Rest - Misc Metals - Here is my short YouTube video for today - @lordmarcovan a new video
These are today's Nickels cleaned.. Why are they dark? Years of Environmental Exposure toning. Nickels are 75% Copper and 25% Nickel. That would be Cupro-Nickel. The Copper tones a darker color when exposed to the elements for many years.
The buffalo looks like Denver Mint? Congrats. I know you wanted to stay home and chill, but you couldn't miss your weekly post.
