    Hello everyone,
This weekend I did a 6 hour Metal Detecting hunt at Inwood Park, NYC. This was my second time there concentrating on an area known as Straus Mansion Site. It was quite a climb to get to the location which is several hundred feet above sea level.

Looks like a good place for an Eastern Diamondback. Nice finds.

I saw a 2 foot long gray snake with a black line on the middle of its back. It slithered away and left me alone. I don't know what it was but it startled me.

Lucky no cucumbers suddenly appeared near you. That would give Meow a big scare.

Nice finds. I suppose you will start another collection, this time, elephants. ;)
@Mountain Man post beat me to it, but was better than mine anyway. As far as snakes are concerned, you carry the, Razor, Sharktooth or what ever it is named, for protection. :D

There are no snakes where Meow lives. But those cucumbers are lurking everywhere.

    You're correct.. TIMEX. SWISS ARMY.

Would you rather have been several hundred feet below sea level?;)

I had to do a double-take on that 1919 Merc. to see if it wasn't that cool doubled-die on IGWT that was discovered awhile back.

A lot of trees, vines and even old rose bushes!
When we find depressions in the ground we search for old iron signals such as square nails. I found an old iron wedge to split rocks. It was about 5 inches long and too heavy to carry!

How would you like to step out of your breezeway door to find this?

When I get home I will look at the silver carefully. I don't have magnification tools at the moment. :watching:

Sounds like you ran into a Queen snake, fairly common in New York but harmles. Just watch out for those timbler rattlers and copperheads. There is another poisonous snake you have up there. It's a type of rattle snake but the name escapes me at the moment. I think it starts with mass.....or something like that. Loved the finds especially the elephant. The soldier is lead, very common in the antique world. I always look forward to your weekend posts from your detecting hobby.

@paddyman98 Looks like you had a nice day. Nice finds. I don't see any sweat so must have a nice cool day also. Are there any foundations left of the mansion to explore?
