Monday - St. Mary's Park -
9 Wheat Cents




One of the guys in our detecting club got lucky and found 6 US Silver coins in his separate hunt.

I'll guess the first one is 1901 and the second is 1883If you can restore them or are they just history.

Those Transit Tokens appear to be from the late 40's to early 50's?

Hey @paddyman98 . What did they use prior to 1953 ? Did they have Trolley trains in New York. I'm sure they did , no ?

Not bad compared to how they were . IHC's are a tough coin to get cleaned up . I only have a few really good ones. Probably because they were in good soil .

 

Newbie question, what did you soak them in? Thanks. They look great.

 

Vinegar for 2 days. It's actually acidic so I don't recommend it for non metal detected coins. Since these 2 were in bad shape it's the quickest way to get the crud off. I will soak them a bit in a mild lubricant and let dry for a few days then stick them into 2x2's then into my detected IHC Album.

 

What about restoring clad? Any success with that?
