Hello everyone, This morning I did a 5 hour Metal Detecting hunt at my local park.. Yes at my favorite spot where I have been finding many silver US Coins for the past 2 months! Today's finds were.. 1 Silver Quarter - 1956 15 Wheat Cents - 2 oldest were 1920 and 1936 The Rest.. Modern Got me another Hot Wheels - 1987 Dodge D100
I'm also waiting for a new Detecting Shovel.. I lost my other shovel I ordered the Phoenix sold by Predatortools! And used by the Hoover Boys! There are many signals that I can't get to with my regular hand-held digger due to them being really deep. This shovel I know will produce more silver!
@john65999 Here is my latest Metal Detecting thread.. One of dozens I have created on CoinTalk over the years!
Nice finds again Paddy. Your hot wheels collection continues to grow as well. The silver quarter is really nice for detecting. I take it you worked out yesterday's stress.
Congrats! That flash of a silver quarter or half poppin' out of the dirt is always exciting, ain't it?
That's a nice digger. Could you do me a favor? Could you weigh a few older wheat cents with the most wear you have found? A different thread here has me wondering.
Sure.. Funny thing is that today I started a little project to separate all the Wheat Cents into two different groups. One for Cents minted between 1909 and 1939 and the other between 1940 and 1958. But my gram scale is over at my place in the Bronx. I will have the weights Sunday evening for you. I found these detecting since I started the series of my recent silver finds.. There is a 1919 in there!
Hey paddy, I've learned quite a bit following your hunting escapades. Thank you. Now another opportunity arises for me to learn from the master. I've been looking for a long handled shovel also. Getting down on my knees and standing back up is getting tougher and tougher. I was leaning towards the Lesche T handle shovel. Never used it, but I have the Lesche small trowel type digging tool and it works great. I figured the long handle would be quality too. Now you're saying the Phoenix is what your next shovel is going to be. Care to share why? Thanks
Great question.. I need a shovel that will give me bigger and better plugs. My old T-Handle Lesche was good but gave me smaller plugs that would break apart if I didn't dig well. It worked but I had to do more work. Here is a video form youtube comparing two different shovels from Predator Tools both of them are great shovels but you can see the difference between plugs. He also speaks about the control you have with the shovel when using a D-Handle vs a T-Handle. By the way the Predator and all the other models by them are Lesche products also! And I like the blue color!
