I was trolling Ebay, as I often do, and I came upon this tiny little coin. Ebay was also having one of their Christmas bargains, so I bought it. This is a tiny little coin, but so flashy! There are quite a few really cool Mexican prooflike coins, and I've been slowly accumulating them. Anyways, this peso is from the mint at Culiacan. The mintage of these was very small - only 2000 were produced. This one graded 65+ PL, making it the highest graded prooflike gold peso for the entire series (from all mints). Those two diagonal scratches near the eagle's head are die scratches.
I'm a huge fan of the 10 and 20 pesos of the Mexican Republic. Tiny mintages overall, yet not nearly the price of American double eagles of similar rarity.
