    I have 2 mercury dimes dated 1942 and 1944 and on the coin it appears that there is a v above and to the left of the date What is that?

    it is to the right not left sorry

    There is a W for the initial of Adolph Weinmann. Is that was you are referring to?

    Or is there another V on the coin?

    It is an A and W put together. It is the intials of the designer.
