I paid $7.00 for 5 mercury dimes 2 in good condition from the 20's 2 in very fine condition from the 40's and one in very fine condition from 1939 do you think I got a good deal:rolling:
Thats about what I've paid for mine. Somewheres around $1.50 each for the 39 & 40's and $2.00+ each for the 20's in G-VG condition. Not bad, rate in there.
I picked up a PCGS MS64 Merc for $11......undervalued for sure! Yes I bought the coin and not the slab. I see slider Mercs all the time for under $10, a few 60-63's in there. The 60-63's mainly being the last three years of production.
I bought one that was in great condition today for a 1.50 USD, still very mint shiny. Just some black crud that a little distilled water is now taking off well. It'll be on my site soon as my example of silver mercury dimes its that nice...the place had a bunch in a jar, I got the nicest one but most were still in almost mint condition. Almost like they were not citculated but still got some crud on them some how. should have bought all of them. They are very nice coins and I like the reverse.
I think you got a fair deal. But if you enjoy what you have and find them appealing enough to be a part of your collection the "yes" you got a good deal. I love the Mercury dimes and collected any condition I could get when I started collecting. After a while I found that my tastes had changed and the ones that "really" did it for me where AU or BU. I sold my circulated and now collect only AU/BU Mercs. I have dreams of finding BU rolls of 16D's.
