Mercury Dimes 1916-1945...What to look for

    I posted earlier about a handful of dimes I got out of a 100 dime lot and while I was looking through the rest I got another package with another lot of 100 dimes. I've been trying to find information on key dates and such and I do have a couple of 1945 micro S dimes, though not in very good condition.

    I've made a list of all I have and was hoping that someone could tell me whether there are any other key dates/mints/errors to look for:

    Philadelphia
    16,17,18,19,20,23,25,26,27,28,29,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45

    Denver
    18,24,2x (its worn but is either 20,26,28,29),36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45

    San Fransisco
    18,20,28,38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45 (3 regular S, 2 micro S)

    I only see more common dates, but ones you want to look out for are

    1916-D
    1921
    1921-D
    1931-D

    These are the main keys of the series, the 16D being the big one.

    Thanks!!! having them all spread out on the table in date order made that gap between 20-23 and 29-34 really obvious....I am certain to continue buying dime lots so perhaps I'll get lucky.

    Don't forget to look for the 1919D DDO (on IGWT).

    On the 1942's be sure to look for a 1 under the 2. It's an overdate issue.

    Thanks...I did actually look at that too but squint as I might, the 2 was all alone...

    You really don't need to squint for the "2 over 1". It's as plain as day.
