Meow was just unrolling a roll of BU OBW Crossing the Delaware quarters. There was one quarter that did not have a reeded edge. As Meow pulled it away from the others, Meow found it was blank. Meow has still not found the Cat camera yet, so cannot take a picture. The blank is slightly smaller in diameter than a regular quarter. And is slightly coppery, with a lot of fine scratches on both sides. Meow cannot find a hint of a design on the blank, so it must not have been struck in any way. Meow would guess this is not very valuable, as it is totally blank and cannot be associated with any issue.
That's actualy really cool, I've got a pre82 cent blank, I know a few of the guys here have blanks of their own.. they re more collectable then you might think
Meow has lost the USB camera in the Cat Hoard quite a while ago. But if it means so much, Meow can take a picture with the Cat Phone. There is not much to see. As Meow mentioned before the blank is silver yet with a copper tone. Very scuffed up, and slightly smaller than an actual quarter. The lack of a reeded made it easy to spot when the roll was opened.
Meow has to be up and about for the day now. So maybe much later today, Meow will try to take a Cat Phone picture or try and find the USB Cat Camera.
Wow.. You really do know how to keep us in suspense. Next time take the picture first then create the thread
Bhaaa and Moo must go to lunch but Peep Peep has her Chick Computer following Meow and cannot wait to see the Cat Camera image. Meow should buy an inexpensive Cat Scale and weigh Meow's blank. Moo has a Moo Scale; Peep Peep has a Peep Peep scale, and Wolf Wolf uses his Dog Scale every day.
Is it a blank (no upset rims) or a planchet (upset rims)? I find that this article provides a good summary of the two... https://www.sullivannumismatics.com/information/articles/planchets-and-blanks What I personally don't know is if a planchet can come out of the upset mill with a smaller diameter than the final coin. Anyone know? I would think it must!
If im reading this correctly Meow said(lack of a reeded edge)so that makes me think an altered coin but without a picture just a guess.
