So I'm digging through stuff again today. I AM a packrat - so what do I find? - about 30 rolls of Memorial Lincolns in tubes. I bought these years ago. Heck, I forgot about them till today. Well, I've been wanting to buy a camera and these will help pay for it no problem. Here's the catch. For starters I'll have to scan them and they are not representing the coins too well. I just put a roll of 60-D on the scanner and this is what I got. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0005-11.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0006-9.jpg See those nice red coins? That's what they all look like. I have rolls like this and many different dates and mintmarks. Found a real nice roll of 86-D which I see is getting a pretty nice premium. Second problem is actually laughable. These rolls are in tubes and honestly "unsearched by me". I have never been a huge fan of Lincolns but have always picked them up when the price was right. I have well over 10,000. This is where it bites me in the butt. I'll admit in a heartbeat that I am VERY skeptical about the "unsearched by me" line but it's true! I've got better things to do personally. Now, if it's a roll of 69-S, 72, 83, 84, or 95 I'd take the time but I'm not into it much beyond that. So how do I sell these? I hate the hype factor when it's obviously not true. On the other hand, I'd like top dollar if possible. Talk about an odd situation! Laugh at me and give me some thoughts please. clembo
Unsearched?? Yeah right, like we're supposed to buy that? LOL Clembo, yer in a pickle !! I can't help but laff at this one after all the " unsearched roll " threads we yak about. I sent you an email.....
I find it a lot more believable that a mint roll has not been searched for varieties than someone who sells a bag of "researched" Lincolns all before 1930. Something about that bag just does not sit with me.
That's what is so funny. These are tubed, I've had them for years and never even thought about them. Got a PM about a roll of 88-D and sure enough have one right on top. Opened it up and saw some really nasty coins, saw some nice ones as well so I'll go through them and sell the good ones and probably spend the rest. I'll end up checking all of these rolls for color before I sell them. Just gotta move em and do it honestly. clembo
More work for clembo Here's a scan of a few rolls. Turns out I have 39. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0007-8.jpg Should I buy a crimper, put nice coins on the ends and sell as GEM BU? Nope. Now I'm going to have to look at each rolll in depth. Seems there is an interst amongst CT members so I have to do some serious weeding. Hell, I won't sell garbage on ebay so why would I do that to a fellow member. This is really a silly thing but I'm glad I kept them. clembo
