Yup, I ticked-off another coin-century ... after searching through countless examples from the 14th-century AD, I finally decided that this baby is a pretty cool representative ...

=> man, I think that this coin is soooo fricken cool!! (I hope you medieval & ancient dudes like it too!!)

    Cheers!!

LORRAINE, Theobald II, Duke of Lorraine
    1303-1312 A.D.
    Diameter:
    Weight: 0.87 grams
Obverse: The Duke of Lorraine (in armour), riding caped steed
Reverse: Downward sword, flanked by two eagles
    Reference: "spadin". Nancy. Flon p 391, 1
Other: Nice monetary type … irregular flan

Doug => yah, if you're bothering to read this medieval thread => I admit that it is a bit of a tight-flan and therefore is missing a portion of the obverse-legend, but man, I compared it to a few others that had bigger flans => but those examples didn't have nearly as cool of a "Knight & Horse" ... and really, that's the money-shot, right?!!

Don't know anything about the type but that's a nice & dynamic knight! Congrats, Steve. Is this for your 'one from each century' set?

=> I must admit that it made me search-ahead ..... oh, and I'm very glad that I did, for this coin is off-the-charts in good ol' Frickenland!!

    ;)

=> hey, is work finally letting ya go, or what? (cheers)

Nope, not at all. Just got home from a grueling 12 hour day. Next time remind me to at least schedule time to pee :D. Lunch? Hah, I wish.

But it's Friday and I'm home and shaking it off, getting my coin fix :)

    ... otherwise, F-'em ...

Ummm, do you know anything about explosives? (we need a chick that can design coin-jewelry and can also layout underground nickel blasts!!) ... I'm just sayin'

I agree that this is as good a choice for a coin of its century as I can imagine. Yes, it would be nice to have bold legends because the letter form they used is hard enough for us amateurs to read when they are all there. You have part of each letter so how about researching the legends and see if you can figure out what is what.

    I couldn't wait:
    A/ + F - DV - X. LOTOR - EGIE. Le Duc armé galopant vers la droite.
R/ MONETA D - E NANCEI. Épée en pal accostée de deux alérions.

Just that Wile E. Coyote needs to take an explosives safety class.

Well that sounds like a ton o' fun! Where do I sign up?

    Ummm, hey, look over there!!

... yah okay, I admit that I usually cheat and find a coin that already has most of the answers (maybe that's cheating and/or maybe that's wrong and/or maybe that's inaccurate and/or maybe that's unethical and/or ... eh-heh-heh)

=> yah okay, ya caught me => I'm really quite a huge fan of "coin-coolness" (and not a very good student of coin-husbandry) ... I'll try much harder to be more like vlaha!! (that lil' brown-noser!!)

    ;)

    => ahaha-vlaha => just jokes (coin-on, lil' bro!!)

If my name is in a stevex post I generally take it as a compliment.

There is no way for me to express my appreciation and agreement with post.

Doug => I'm very sorry if I sounded unappreciative => hey friend, I am the biggest fan of your amazing coin-efforts (thank you, my coin-good-friend)

the first part translates into => "The Duke armed horse galloping to the right"
the second part translates into => "Sword in pal accosted two alerions"

=> huh, alerions, eh? (who knew?) =>

A little late to the party Lil Buddy, but for the type of coin I like this very much. It's just out of my area of interest at the moment. Contrats.

    Ahahahaha => yup, that's better!!

=> and Doug, that's why I merely try and hunt-out the cool coins, yet I try to leave the "attribution- stuff" to you and vlaha!!

Cheers, brothers (sorry if I clouded-up the process)
