Some bamboo cutters just found over 500 medieval coins in India dating back possibly to as early as 1134. Article here: http://news.collectica.com/archives/341-Medival-Coins-Unearthed-in-India.html
In a way I hope the Indian State examines them before the coins are sold on the open market. I enjoy ancient's as much as anyone else but, too many national treasures end up in private collections or museums which have no business owning the property. Many times locked away virtually forever. If these coins are deemed "non-significant" to the history of the area then let's bid it up, but if they're rare and unique they should be handled like the British National Museum handles rare finds. A reasonable sum should be offered to the finder and they then should be put on public display for all to see. Just my 2 Dupondis's Bone
hi..sorry about this late reply.. here in India, there is not much effort been done to preserve all these treasures. So, most probably, what Bonedigger says will happen here.. It'll end up in some one's collection, whatever be its value..
