This was in a case labeled "Medieval French" and that's all I know about it. Anyone know anything more?
It does look French, but older than I have references for. Most of the edge lettering is visible. Does that say "PARIS" from 3:00 to 5:00?
It kind of reminds me of the 14th Century French coinage of King Jean II / Charles VI. Here is a modern reproduction of that series of coinage. Z

Thanks. I do see a similarity with some of them. I can make out the word "Dei" (God" and following that might be "Mattau" (?) then possibly "Paris" then "B_ _ LLA". It also might say "Dei Mat Aug Paris Stella". There are some dividing characters and it's hard to distinguish them from letters.
I believe It is a stock jeton of Tournai 1415-1497.It is listed in Mitchiner’s catalog of “The Medieval Period And Nuremberg” as a shield of France type. The Mitchiner number is 693. MARIS in the legend enables the specific ID.The legend is based on the “AVE MARI STELLA” inscription popular on royal Jetons .Hope this helps.
