For all of you experts on ancients and medieval coins... Here is another coin that has me puzzled... It's a hammered, crude, (brass?) coin that looks from the middle ages and from France. It's size is about the same of a US quarter. Not much info about this type. I have seen some English coins from that period that I can identify, but not this one. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Monetarium
Hi, thanks for your insight. It could be possible... I'm thinking it's probably from France since it has the "Fleur the Lys" on it
The options are wide, it could be French, Spanish, Crusader, and more. What is the design on the right image?
It took some doing, but I believe that is double parisis (basically a 2 penny coin) issued Bar, Yolande 1344-60, Clermont-en-Argonne. The design, and inscriptions that I can make out match what is listed.
I'm guessing it's a Double Parisis. Philip VI 1328-1350 Like this one... http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.php?LotID=361337&AucID=268&Lot=294 Obv: Moneta Duplex Rev: Philipvs Rex FRA NCO
