Hello cointalk folks, I have this medallion that I have researched, but can't find any others like it. Is it a rare medallion, and what might its value be? It has very strong luster, and is on mint condition.
I see that it has a hallmark on it. Private mints rarely have published records for items like this, but you can be pretty sure that they struck tens of thousands of them. Chris
Unless you can find other examples of this particular medallion being sold and for a certain amount, you will have to use a different method of figuring out it's value: 1) Find someone who would be interested in acquiring one, and set a price. 2) If the person agrees to purchase it at that price, and you sell it to that person for that price, then that is the value (to you) of the medallion. And the value may change for the person purchasing this, as he/she may or may not be able to find a buyer for the coin that comes close to what they purchased it for. 3) If the person doesn't purchase it for that price, you can figure it's either not worth that much, and offer a lower price until you hit the sweet spot for that person, or you can hold on to it and hope some other buyer comes along and purchases it. 4) It will be when the medallion is sold that the value becomes known. Sometimes things bring what they do based only on who is willing to purchase it. And the market can be really different for different things.
