Mechanical Doubling or Doubled Die?

    I've had this coin for quite a while and I kept it because of the prominent doubling on the front of Washington's face. Even though I believe it's mechanical doubling, it doesn't have the usual "shelving" effect that occurs with most other examples of MD. I'm sorry the photo isn't as sharp as I'd like so you can see the details.

    What are your thoughts?

    Die deterioration or some sort of die “stutter”. Not hub doubling, imo…Spark

    Yes, I think that it's die deterioration doubling, as said above.
