hi can someone tell me the difference between machine double and double die so I can tell what Im looking for? Im very new to collecting and can use your help. what is the difference in the value? also I have alot of coins that I think are very slightly doubled on liberty. When I look at them they look a little blurry to me. Is that what Im looking for? are slightly doubled worth keeping? how hard should I look? Hi Bill,

Take a lookat this page. There are descriptions and photos of the various types of apparent doubling. It will probably take some re-reading. Good practice that when someone throws up a photo and asks if it "doubled", to go to the page and see if you can recognize the type from the photos. As to value, machine type of doubling will range from considering it damage and reduction in value, to no difference, to small increase if it is an extreme case....depending on who is buying of course.

Always remember that if you can not tell if it is MD or a true DD, then you can always ask here.
