From what I can see, I must agree with the other gentlemen; strike doubling. If you're new to varieties, searching, etc and would simply like the thrill of locating an accepted variety, there are many very common (and very minor) DDRs on late date memorial cents, perhaps for the last 10-11 years they were issued. This "doubling" usually shows just as a little blip on one of the columns on either side of dear leader or, in some cases, on/of the statue itself. I certainly understand that such things aren't for everyone, but if it would help, I'm sure I can dig up a few links for you. Searching for and identifying such varieties can also be viewed as an exercise in helping to develop one's eye, and therfore a win-win even if their value is, at best, negligible.
Well good to find something - espacially after probably looking through 100's of coins. Plus he got "DBLD" right and I hope that is an "I" or else "DYE" just breaks him even.
