Maybe a RPM

    I found this in change a few months ago and still can find out what it is...any ideas??
    Its a 1984-D Cent....

    First guess would be high strike pressure "tore" the copper plating along the edge of the mark and metal flow moved it out. I see this often with the copper plated zinc lincolns. I'd also through in a bit of worn die doubling too.

    Splitting of the copper plating next to the D-mintmark is rather common. It is not an RPM.

    I have some 05 buffalo nickles that have this around the date. Of course the coloring is reversed but basically rhe same cause.

    What is an RPM??? Sry Trying to learn more about errors.

    Repunched Mint Mark - It occurs when the dies used to create the coin are marked with a mint mark which is of two or more types or two or more locations.

    There are numrous different classifications so I suggest going to CONECA's web site at http://www.conecaonline.org/

    Look around. In one of the links on the site there is a master listing of terminology.
