Hello all, new to the forum. The other day I ran into a 1995 D Penny after searching a brinks box. To me there is a shadow around the top of the letters and head and was wondering if it could be the DD 03 but could use some experts advice. Took it into local coin shop guy said yeah there is something odd with it (He don't keep up with newer coins and told me to do some research on the internet). So I thought I would put it on here and have you guys take a look. Sorry about the photos don't have a camera set up so I used my phone camera looking threw the loop. Little bit of redneck ingenuity. So were on the same page. If you look at the In God We Trust there is a shadow of another N at the Top along with the U in Trust along with other but those are the most prominent. There is a shadow of the two 9's and the 5 and at the bottom of the D Looks to me that liberty is a shadow as well and wondering if that line is the die gouge. Any comments would be appreciated.
You need to take closer pics and dead on, not angled. But from what I can see is that it's not a doubled die but plating split doubling (not collectible) which was common on the zinc cents Keep this site for reference: http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/OtherFormsOfDoubling.htm
