Hello everyone. I was hoping to get an opinion on this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380423664743?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 My concern is its coming from China - a huge red flag for me. Is it genuine? Is it overpriced? Any input (particularly critical inputs) are greatly appreciated.
I know nothing about these...but at the same time, I don't think anyone would go to the trouble to counterfeit an Iceland mint set with no extrordinary value...including the packaging and everything else included (and considering the trouble they'd go through to make fakes of several different sized coins with different compositions). For a buy it now price of $37 dollars? lol. There are no completed listings to compare it to as far as price. I'm pretty sure authenticity is not a question in this case, but there are several Iceland experts on this forum and maybe one of them will chime in. I'd say 99.99999999% chance its real but I'm not sure the value.
I do think it is a cool set though. I don't know the mintage. If you like the set, go for it. But a base metal modern mint set? I'd probably pay a few bucks a coin at the most.
These guys sell over priced items, they wait and wait until someone is willing to pay that much. Some times you will only find what you are looking for from them or from another Chinese seller and will have to pay the price they are asking for. If you really want it NOW go for it, if you can wait, give it a month or two untill you find a cheaper one. There is a member from Iceland in the forum, may be he can help.
Thanks! This is the sort of feedback I was hoping for. Particularly, thank you petro89 for your response!
If your interested in something like this I would contact our friend from Iceland that also sells http://www.cointalk.com/member.php?u=18255#vmessage16032
Nice looking set, doubt it is fake but, I agree with the others that you can probably find it for a much better price then that.
That set is very pricey.....I would not pay that much for those coins and you might be able to find that set for alot less then $38 dollars. Now you can properly find the same coins on ebay for one Dollar or less for each of them. Or you might be able to find them in a different set that I have seen on ebay for $5 to $10 Dollars.........Good luck on your search.
Yes, I'd wait to hear from Siggi, too, but there is a couple other things to consider.... 1) He is offering free shipping. 2) Just because he has listed a BIN, doesn't mean you can't make him a lower offer (in a polite way). Chris
