I am sharing this coin I got a couple months ago because there are not many images of this type out there. This is a half follis from Thessalonica of Maurice Tiberius and Constantina.

I been wanting one of these for years. While the Cherson coinage is much more common, there is a dispute with who is on that series. Some say Maurice Tiberius, Constantia and Theodosius are represented, others argue that it depicts Tiberius II, Anastasia and Maurice Tiberius. This is the only option if you want an undisputed depiction of Constantia.

It was listed as a Tiberius II and Anastasia, however, all of Tiberius' coinage is from year 4 and beyond. The full legend is clearly not Justin.

It is particularly great when a coin that answers questions is in good enough shape that we can see the details as well as here. We are still left with the disputes over who issued coins bearing what legends but at least we have all the evidence. Have you seen other years under 4 for other types?

Sear lists three varieties of these coins (506, 507 and 507A), all with year I. One could infer these are a carry over from Tiberius II and switch to the facing bust portraits early in first year of Maurice's reign. I have only found one other 507A online and it is a die match with mine.

As for that particular legend, it is rare but not unique to this mint. Sear 511A, a follis from Nicomedia, has this legend also. Those are from year II and III.

When I stated it was listed as a Tiberius ii, I was referring to the dealer I bought it off of, not the references. Sorry if I was unclear.
