Massachusetts Quarter - Error?

Discussion in 'What's it Worth' started by americanpatriot, Apr 5, 2005.

  1. I don't know if this counts as an error....it looks like it was mis-struck. Any thoughts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is an error - the coin was struck slightly off center. As to value, it can vary greatly - from a dollar or two to fifty dollars depending on how far off center. I would guess your coin would be on the lower end.

To add to what GDJMSP said, off center strikes command more a premium when you start to lose some of the lettering. Really cool find though, I've yet to find one even as far off center as yours ;)

I'm sorry, I don't see the mint error. Is it a rotated die or what? I can't tell from these pics...

Look at the rims - on the obverse there is practically no rim next to "QUARTER" and a very wide rim on the opposite edge. On the reverse its the state name that's near the edge.
