I wonder if anybody in the forum can help identify the variety of this 1788 Massachusetts cent? Your comments on grade/condition are of course very welcome.
    Thanks and regards,

Its a more common type of MAss cent I would grade it GOOD4. I live in Massachusetts and they are fairly common around these parts. Sells for about $100 USD. But you can find them in the same condition for a little less if you look around. Either way VERY NICE coin to have. If I didnt own 10 of them. I would buy it from ya. lol

I have some reservations about the coin! First, the planchet has pockets on the Obverse, East and Southeast of "CO" in COMMON and Northwest of the Indian's head through the "W" in WEALTH which extends to the rim. Second, the Indian appears to be too fat and has the appearance of the Indian on the 1787 Cent. Also, the bow is too close to the "N" in COMMON. Third, the Eagle looks off...especially the feathers. The Olive branch bends the wrong direction and is touching the first feather on the Eagle's right wing when it should be touching the second feather.

I am sure that there are quite a few variations of these coins, however...a lot of the details just don't match up and don't look right! I hope that I am wrong and that it is genuine!
