Mass bannings on PCGS forums?

I was banned a few days ago for just mentioning how PCGS was going to handle problems with counterfeits.

I have been browsing the forum today, and it's almost dead, very little activity. I have a feeling they swept through and banned numerous members, including some veteran members.

Anyone here banned over there?

Mass banning is putting it lightly.

 

Not yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they banned me for not supporting their retarded "+" addition to the grading scale.

 

I checked out PCGS a number of years ago but decided that the holier-than-thou my-coins-are-better-than-anything-you-have if-you-own-anything-but-pcgs-slabs-you're-lower-than-snail-slime attitudes of 90% of the people over there didn't agree with me.

I would imagine for not following the party line.

 

New attitude over there, you'd be bounced for perpetuity on that one. They are weeding out the posters who disparage PCGS, or anyone associated with them. They are banning veteran posters that put others down (ksteelheader,etc)

 

No First Amendment rights over there, hmmm?

 

That is fine by me, it is their site, they pay for it, you gotsta have rules in life or the first thing you know people are spitting on the floor and disparaging the dog

This has nothing to do with First Amendment rights.

This isn't the Guv'mint crackin' down on ya. Any one of us would run someone out of our personal homes if someone stepped over the line. PCGS has every right to do the same with their forum; participation on the forum they set up at their cost is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. Same is true here.

That said, PCGS's board will face the consequences if they are too quick to pull the trigger on malcontents. Folks will just leave without getting the PCGS Pink Slip, and the board will suffer. In fact, it could have some effect on there business.

Personally, I feel this board is just about right on the moderation, and we have some pretty cool folks. To my knowledge, only one person has ever been banned (which I personally would not have done).

 

I would like to think that I would talk to the person first about what he said rather than just kick him out. My 1st amendment comment was sardonic humor; apparently it didn't translate very well.

But I do understand your point. However, if the warnings and bootings haven't worked to keep order, then they have lost control. Apparently their heavy-handed approach doesn't work and their moderators need to be replaced.

 

I'm not a member of there site and I agree it's theirs so they can do what they want but if there are that many people being banned that wouldn't be good for PCGS as a business I'd think.

And I too se-collectibles would to some warnings to the die hard fans before seperating them?

 

Hmmm - See the CAC is a scam threads..

 

I know of several who have been banned from here. But I think they all earned it.
