coin which will be released next year will be really interesting to see if her coin will attract as much attention as Presidient Lincolns coins have drawn. I kinda think she might have the fastest sellout of all the former first ladies that have been released so far
Hey Pappy-o, I can't wait either for her coin to come out, but I think it will be a far cry from a sell out. Personally, I think people have lost interest with the series and with the price of gold being so high, it makes these coins all the more unattractive. I collect these, and will continue to do so when they become more affordable again. I don't think we will ever see a sell out again in this series, although if there was going to be any that do sell out, they would start with Jackie O.
I've collected everything this year having to do with President Lincoln & I'am thinking that this Mary Todd Lincoln coin might top of my 2009 President Lincoln set , but you are certainly right the price of gold I guess I'll wait and see where it goes in the comming year , Jackie O is definitely a contender , be interesting to see what happens
Just because she was married to a great president doesn't make the coin any more interesting to me than any of the other spouses. I like the Buchanan's Liberty though and will be a buyer of that one next year.
Oh, she is hot... I'm still hoping for a Van Buren, Jefferson and Jackson liberty... One of these days...One of these days...
Wouldn't bet on a quick sell out... the first lady gold coins actually haven't been selling that well based on mint records. Whether Mary Todd Lincoln is a more popular subject than other first ladies... kind of hard to say, maybe. You could create an interesting set with the 2009 and 2010 Lincoln coins... imagine a set with: One each of the 4 different 2009 Lincoln bicentennial cents The new design of the 2010 Lincoln cent The 2009 comemmorative Lincoln silver dollar The 2010 Lincoln presidential dollar Throw in a series 2009 $5 bill... a Mary Todd Lincoln gold coin (or the bronze metal if the gold's too pricey for you)... that would make a great set, don't you think? Especially in a nice frame. Thinking about doing something like this myself.
I have never bought any of the Spouse coins, but I will buy that one! I'll bet it sells out very quick, and will then sell for about $300 over what the others go for. Just my guess though. Chuck
I'am definitely thinking the same as you Chuck , I've been amazed at all the Lincoln coins being sold this year & like they say hes always been the most popular President :thumb:
Yep. Plus in eleven more months the Abraham Lincoln Golden Dollar will be released... November 18th, 2010. That will be a very popular presidential dollar too.
I am no particular fan of USA coins, nor USA mint products in general, but I did buy the Lincoln dollar and cent set and am very pleased with it. He was one of those unique figures in history that is far more deserving of commemoration and recognition for his contribution to American history - indeed, far more so than any other president. I like this Mary Lincoln coin and might consider the purchase thereof, whilst she was no match for her husband - and in fact was something of a trial by fire for him, she did contribute to his life and therein the well being of the USA.
I think it will be interesting to find out if they plan on making a lot more of the Mary Todd Lincoln Spouse coins than they made of the others. If production quantity is the same, then they will surely command more money on resale. Eleanor Roosevelt and yes, Jackie O will be popular too.
40k by law. I dont think we will see a sellout. People lost money on Martha Washington. Mary Todd Lincoln is less popular that Martha Washington.
