I can't get the link to work. Are they issuing commens for it? Apparently there's been a number of big "ideas." European joint mission, Europe and U.S., U.S and Russia, Russia and China, World joint mission to find Elvis' hiding spot.....
Nah, it's one of those "the euro won't work, so what else could bring Europeans together?" stories. Has nothing to do with coins. Christian

If we start posting each and every article here that has something to do with the euro, and whatever somebody says about its supposed future, Coin Chat will be clogged up within seconds. Christian
well, this one has nice piictures. Actually, I check coin news pretty much every day and there hasn't been much on the euro of late. Maybe in the finance papers, but we do coins
All I'm getting is the title. Maybe it's just my wireless provider providing more of less than wire. As usual.
Admittedly I am primarily interested in euro circulation and commemorative coins, not so much in the (usually surcharged) collector coins. But if you include the latter ... here are two examples, one from San Marino (Amerigo Vespucci, already issued) and one from the Netherlands (Amsterdam Grachtengordel, comes in mid-November). The latter is not a great design in my opinion, but it comes with fingerprints already included. Christian
Or take these two. In January France and Germany will issue €2 commems dedicated to the Elysée Treaty, and both the French and the German version have basically the same design. (The little colored squares show which details will be different.) This is the very first time, apart from the common issues, that €2 coins from two countries are almost lookalikes. But maybe coins featuring Mars chocolate bars would be more interesting for some collectors. Christian
I had to take a proof eagle out the capsule once because there was an arm hair on it. Presumably from handling by a mint employee.
Basically the continents. Between North America and Australia you have the Grachtengordel (original layout; today it looks like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ef/AmsterdamGrachten.jpg). On the other side, between Africa and South America, there is Queen Beatrix. The coin is the first in a series celebrating the Unesco World Heritage sites in the Netherlands, hence the inscription "Nederlands Werelderfgoed". And I think that the world map is supposed to emphasize this "world" aspect. Why the fingerprints? Don't ask me. I would have preferred a more detailed view of the Grachten/canal system instead ...
