Good Day: what are you peeps doing to mark the rolls that you've already searched? When you bring them back to the bank, have you noted a search on the roll wrapper? Thank you
Well, I don't re-wrap them. My bank has a coin sorting machine. I just dump them in and the machine spits out a receipt I take to the teller.
I used to bag halves myself and then transport to the bank (US Bank). No way to mark. My replacement bank has a counter that spits out a receipt.
I also use banks with coin counters, so no need to re-roll. However, I did mark about 10k in halves with my own mark just to see if I ever received any back. About 300k later and I still haven't seen one of those halves back.
Agreed with the rest. Find another bank or CU with a counting machine. Helps your tellers and other roll hunters. I've said it a thousand times but I'll say it again.
Where I live... no bank counting machines. I rewrap. I sometimes mark the roll with a sharpie. No very often and I don't recall finding them again.
For me, BoA has their own central facility for supplying rolls to their branches. This facility also re-wraps ALL coins in crimped-edge wrappers or shrink-wrap. So, there is no need to mark the wrappers since they will be opened and re-wrapped anyway. Chris
I have been writing "searched" on mine until another poster said that he just puts a large "X" on his. Does that sound accurate???
I'll bet that there are a lot of people who just use an "X". How would you know who put the "X" on the roll? Make it something unique. Chris
I used a rubber stamp in black ink like a buttefly rubber stamp to identify the rolls i have searched /rerolled
I just bought this coin sorter. I'm done with all the scooping and sorting, Let technology do it for me. Common sense tells me to mark the rolls with a unique stamp. I'm getting a personalized stamp just for this reason. later....
I put my initials and "NG" (nothing good) on mine. Out of respect for other searchers, maybe we should devise a code to save each other time. Personally, I like my system, as it is 2 tiered - searchers initials and NG to signify that it has been searched.
