How come I get week in the knees and feel woosy when I see coins like that. That's a nice looking large cent you have.
Hallelujah - I am cured. Man that is one sweet collection you have - but this one tops all those others. Thanks Marauder! Very pretty coin. Higher grade than mine, but what a beauty.
Coronet aficionados - a complete collection of high end stuff goes on display the weekend of April 23rd - the Dan Holmes Middle Dates collection . The auction is in May if I recall. I'll be checkin' it out at EAC.
900fine, if they have a special preview catalog for his middle date collection like they did for his early dates, do you think you could pick up a copy for me? (For those who don't know what I am talking about, At EAC last year they had a catalog of Dan Holmes early dates, but the layout was different from the catalogs that went out to the mailing list. The Preview catalog was only available at EAC and had just a few hundred copies.)
Thats a nice coin! I saw one similar in color at the last show I attended but perhaps a 62 in my opinion. Only problem was it wasn't graded and I had never seen vibrant green on a circulation strike early cent so I was suspicious. After seeing yours I think I should have picked it up. Guy~
You guys act like you have never seen a photo of that coin before. I have posted the Anaconda photo of it several times on this forum. Most recently in this thread: 1837 Large Cent Anaconda photo--Post #38 Congratulations on picking up that piece. It is a striking and very memorable coin. Bravo!
I know it's a N-3, but that variety is described as "no cracks seen" in John Wrights Cent Book and yours obviously has a either a strong crack at the top of the head right of star 8 to the rim or a scratch like a crack. Have you had any correspondence with the keepers of the variety information on middle dates? Would you mind confirming whether what I see as a die crack is actually that and not a scratch? I'm always curious.
Yep - your right I did not remember that post. The original pictures on this post are more subdued in showing the toning. Not as blinding as the originals. Still a nice coin.
