Date 1780. Badly worn in center of reverse. most of the coat of arms is gone. Rest OK, e.g. good detail in eagles' heads and her hair. Has S.F. below the bust, which this page says may be improtant: http://europeanhistory.about.com/gi...tp://members.aol.com/dkaplan888E/mter1780.htm
I've seen dealers selling these as bullion coins, pretty much worth about what the silver content is.
Right. I'm not sure why your coin has so much wear on it but the web page you directed us to says it all. "If you have a question about a Maria Theresa dated 1780, with the initials "SF" underneath the bust on the obverse, chances are overwhelming that it is a more recent restrike." Chances are,it was struck in the 20th century and is basically worth whatever an ounce or so of silver is at. A picture would help though. I paid $6.00 for this one.
There are many 1780 MT talers that are not restrikes, but there are many more that are. Best place there is to find out the difference is - Right Here
