Page 5 of the Mar 14th Coin World has a story about a man finding a Monroe dollar with edge lettering, but blank planchet on both sides. It was slabed by NGC as, "2008P James Monroe $1. Edge lettered Planchet. Mint error" How did NGC know it was a Monroe dollars other then the word of the person that sent it in?
At the time it was submitted, and still today, the only 2008 Presidential dollars issued are Monroes. If NGC had received it after the next one is issued, they would probably have slabbed it "2008 Presidential Planchet".
I believe that one source has said that there has been about 5 of these found and slabbed, but I can't find that listed anywhere--so I can't prove it yet Speedy
