I’ve always liked coins as a tangible piece of history. These coins were dumped in Manila Bay to prevent the Japanese from getting them. Such a concrete tie to an event is really cool to me so I hope you like them. The Wilson mint medals have a mintage of 3700 in bronze and 2200 in silver. There were 10 struck in gold with only 6 known so grab your scuba gear and head out to Manila Bay. Post yours if you have any.
I remember my father telling me about the recovery of the Philippine currency after WWII. I'm not sure exactly, what his involvement was, if any. He did say he was under strict orders not to talk about where the coins/currency was. He was a corpsman in the U.S. Navy at the time.
