could you tell me what happend to the rim of the coin?why is it crack all over the rims on both side?is this rare or common?this coin has never been used,it has been in the coin album until now.

It appears to be what they call finning. Metal is pushed up and out of the collar during striking when the coin is struck with too much pressure or the planchet is bit extra thick.
