I found this at work one day and it already has a hole in it. I thought about making a necklace out of it. What do you think? What is the value of it as it is? If I were to make a necklace out of it how would I clean it? It is the only one of these that I own so I don't know anything about it.

In that condition value would be silver content - between $4 & $5. Making a necklace would be fine ;)

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. So what would I do to clean it? Is there anything I would have around the house to use?

If you are getting at the point that you shouldn't clean coins. I know that. I've read it on here plenty of times. BUT if the coin is already messed up with a hole in it and I were getting it ready for making it into jewelry wouldn't you want it cleaned then? What could it possibly hurt at this point with the condition that it's in?

if you want a cheaper way to clean them , try rubing cigerette ashes on it with you bare thumb.

Or mix some baking soda with some water to make a paste rub it on the coin using your thumb till it's clean .

As long as it's now a piece of jewelry, consider "Toning " it first. You can always re-dip it later. That is if you like color more than flashing white. These are fun because you can experiment a lot and when tired, clean it and then dip it. I would dip it and then bake it in a potato to see if it would tone as I have heard it would.....if not, re-dip and go from there. Or maybe spray with WD-40 and gently torch it. Just me.

Sure there's a process - you dip it in, you rinse it off - all done.

LOL - I thought the same thing when I read your first response, followed by the no process statement. Good one.

    Nice find by the way.
