I am pretty sure this is MD but this is the only one so far that I have found that seems to be pretty heavy. Any thoughts?

That sure looks like MD, notice how it made the '1' smaller.

The larger photo shows it very well as MD. Nice photo work.

    Several possibilities.

    1) Machine doubling

    2) Die deterioration doubling

    3) At that point in time, it could have been a worn hub used to make the die. It's common in the late fifties and early sixties.

    Thanks,
    Bill

When it comes to the bust esp.

When it comes to the bust esp. the chin and neck areas Bill is perfectly correct - a type of profile doubling very common in this era.
