First Europeans appeared in Makao at 1513. Macao was controlled by a Portugueses since 1557 until 1999. It was the small territory (Macao has an area 29,2 sq.km.) in China. Since 1862 Macao became the Portuguese colony. Population of Macao is 541000.
At 20 December 1999 Republic of Portuguese passed Macao to China.
At the present time Macao is a Special Administrative District of China Republic.
Since 1991 Macao is a member of WTO. Macao has own currency - pataca. One pataca = 100 avos.
