Hello, I am new to the website and was looking for coin and currency software for the Mac. I would like to be able to add pictures of the coins and currency into the software. I hear that people setup a program on excel for this type of program. If anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated!!
Welcome to the forum. i dontuse any special software for my collection - just MS Excell. There are members here, though, that use a variety of different applications. Hopefully 1 will pop in with some options!
I'm a Mac user and I use Excel for inventory. I just set up my own custom pages. Nothing super fancy nor advanced looking, but it works for me. Also, if you have an iPhone/iTouch there are some coin/currency Apps you can look into, but I'm not sure if you can input your collection into them.
I haven't for the time to do the job yet, but experimentation has shown that links to images from inside an Excel document can be done. It takes a bit of fiddling to find the correct syntax for the images, but once you have it done correctly it goes rather quickly. You need the FULL location filename, such as: C:/Document/Coins/Inventory/Lincoln Cents/1909.jpg Then the computer knows where to look.
absolutely! Exell will never look as purdy as a custom app will.... but its plenty easy, and can do most anything you need. And its free. Well, that is its free if it came installed on your pc - otherwise Open Office is free and can do pretty much the same things as Excell!
Bento 3 just came out...it will let you do pictures into the database. I was told it was good. It's for Mac and has a iPhone app that links. Anyone have experience with it?
I havent found a suitable coin app yet, but macs are like that, a lot less software. I use excel to keep an inventory, but that is it.
