I have a German foreign Exchange student at my school right now and when we went on our senior trip his parents came to visit him in NYC while we were there and i asked him if he could get me some Euro coins and he did, about 6-7 coins very good examples. So he is looking at my other Euros today and he sees a Luxembourg Euro 20 cent piece and he said that it is even rare for Europeans to Luxembourg Euros, is this true i was just wondering, the coin is not in good shape but that is cool and interesting if it is true.

Sorry no real pic but the coin looks like this

The common sides of the coins were designed by Mr Luc Luycx of the Royal Belgian Mint. They show images of the European Union and symbolise the unity of the EU
The National side shows the profile of His Royal Highness the Grand Duke Henri designed by Yvette Gastauer-Claire
The shape of the coin is called Spanish flower
Luxembourg have been a member of the Euro since 1999 but only issuing there own coins since 2002
The coins from 2007 were minted in Paris
There were 8,000,000 20c coins produced in 2007 so they are not that rare LOL, 2003 was a rare year though for the 20c only 1.5 mill produced

The thing is the overall number of 20c coins in circulation from all the euro producing countries is quite astronaomical so it makes sence that you might not see one from a small country so often

his sense of rare is not the Rare that we look for, and judging on that Luxembourg is such a small country

Guess it depends on where in the currency union one lives. :) I get coins from Luxembourg more often than pieces from, say, Finland or Greece ...

As Christian says, it depends on where you live at.

I live in Spain, so most coins come from Spain, but also some from France (as it is near here), or Italy, or Germany (high quantities issued).

Luxembourg has lower issues, but it is not so rare to get them at circulation. BTW, collectors can get rolls from the mint, at face value plus handling and shipping costs. The bad part is that handling seems to be quite expensive there.
