Found this 1982-P dime while coin roll hunting and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why there's a lump on FDR's neck. Is this something that happens in the minting process? After? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Heating the coin will do that. The heat will expand the gasses trapped between the clad layers, pushing the layers apart, creating the lump.
