I went to my local coin dealer today, and bought some coins out of the bargin box. I bought a bag of buffalo nicks for $5 and a bag of mercury dimes for $15. There were 10 nicks and 15 mercs. When I got home I looked through them and found a 1913s type 1 and a couple others to fill holes or to upgrade. When I went throught the mercs. I found- 28s,18p,25p,25s,17p,24p,23p,17p,31d,and what looks to me and my sons like a 16d. The 16d is very worn and hard to see the mint mark. I have compared it to my 16p, &16s and it seems differtent than the both of them. It is showing a mark that looks rounded on top and flat on the left side. Im just giddy right now and want to send it in for grading and find out. Either way if it isnt a 16d I think I still did good for $20.:)

You did good, even without the '16D.

  5. I am really, really hoping that you have cherrypicked a genuine 1916D Mercury dime but seriously doubt that you found one in a dealer's bargain bin. TC
