Okay, so I went a little nuts this month. I over spent my coin budget by 10X. But I hit some real winners. The bag of error cents for one, but I also bought 33 "No Date" scrap only SLQs because I knew one was a 1917 type 1 from the photo. (Turned out to be a 1917-S) Now the cool part. 13 of the 33 had DATES! Readable partial and FULL DATES! I even found a 1919-S in the bunch. Some of the dates were easy to read and some had to be looked at checked and matched to the type of date to figure out what they were. I think most are AG3 and maybe one 4. Do people just think because part of the date is worn down that the coin is worthless? I was going to trade them in on a 10 oz bar of silver. Now I'll get more than my money back from the coins with dates and a 5 oz bar of silver. Does every one hit deals like I'm getting, or am I just lucky? Ben
For me it comes and goes. I buy groups and sometimes I overpay, sometimes get unlucky and stop looking for a while. Other times you hit the jackpot. You have had some great luck, remember that luck when you get burned so as to not get too depressed. My best luck was a group of 66 coins with horrible, out of focus, somewhat fake looking coins. When I got the group it turned out to be a group put away 40 years ago, with tags from famous ancient dealers. I think there were at least 20 coins that individually were worth more than I paid for the whole group, (and I paid $200). You have to remember those winners when you are losing sometimes, and just plug along.
