Bought 3 uncirculated rolls of 2009 Formative Years lincoln cents for 3 bucks a roll today, and found a total of 19 doubled thumb errors (wddr-046), worth 5 to 7 bucks a piece. So my 9 dollar purchase yielded 100-120 dollars worth of error. ;)

Just out of curiosity, where did you buy them? Coin shop? Coin show? Ebay? Private seller? or somewhere else?

Pennsteve, I will tell you after tomorrow, when I go buy the rest of the rolls from the same source :p. But I bought them in Erie, PA.

No worry about me buying them out from under you. I'm about 5 hours from erie and it wouldn't be worth the trip even if my car could make it that far.

where in erie did you buy them? I am from there and curious to know. dont worry I dont buy any from there since I am stationed outside of PA and dont feel like driving that far just to go to a dealer.

Nice finds! Any idea what the ddr1-4's are going for? I've got a bunch of those which I pulled out of mint boxes...

JJK78 you can find the values for the 1-4 at www.doubleddie.com , but if you check ebay you will that they often go for as little as half of Wexler's value...

I have two sets of the PD rolls of the formative years LP2. One set is sealed, and the other I opened to see the rolls, but the rolls themselves are intact.
I've never thought about opening them to look for varieties. Maybe I should?!

Stang, its worth a try, as I doubt the uncirculated rolls themselves will go up significantly in value soon, as people have hoarded alot of them. The varieties tend to travel in clusters, so if you go through ten rolls and don't find anything you can stop if you want to save the other rolls. However, if you find 5 varieties in the first roll, you may be sitting on a jackpot.

So as I mentioned, I have two sets of the rolls i purchased from the Mint in 2009. One I opened back then to see how it was packaged, and the other is still sealed. Without unwrapping the rolls from the opened box, I found a DDR as an ender on the 2009 P roll. The other end is obverse out. The thumb is definitely different than the two 2009-D counterparts I can see on the D roll. It's one of the fat thumb varieties, and looks like it may be WDDR-002, but I need a loupe to see the detail (I only have a 3x magnifier and tired eyes). My two boxes are both from 4/28/09, Inspector 9774, 9:48.

On the ender, it looks to have the die gouge in the book, but agian, I will need a higher power loupe to be certain.
What are the best sites to learn how to discern the differences between the DDRs? I've already visited Wexlers and the LRC. I post on the Coneca forums from time to time, but I find their actual website difficult to navigate and never have located visual aids regarding varieties.

Sounds like there are a lot of 2009 DD's. Wouldn't that make them almost worthless as an error coin?
