Here is one I just finished cleaning. I didn't realize how large and thick these were when I purchased it. Must have been hard to get a good strike on such a thick coin. Lucius Verus, Sestertius, Aequitas, Æ Sestertius; 30mm/22.2gm - Rome mint, struck c.161-169 AD Con/ VF (for the issue), glossy turquoise patina, excellent portrait, well-centered, complete inscriptions. Obv/ L VERVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX; laur. bust r. Rev/ TR POT VIII IMP COS III / SC; Aequitas sitting l., holding scales and cornucopia. Ref/ RIC Vol 3 1484
thanks this one took a span of a week with about 2 hours a day the dirt was very hard even after soaks.
Yes I like the darker one as well. I didn't think about verdicare. I know that olive oil darkens patina.
Great artistic work. The face is now much more clear, visible and "calm". You won and deserved this coin. Congrats..
That's pretty awesome, @britannia40 ! The cleaning really accentuates the beautiful ancient verde-green patina! I took the liberty of cropping your images and placing them side by side to show the dramatic results of your conservation efforts
No problem, @britannia40 ! Let me know if you ever need assistance cropping your photos etc—I'll be glad to assist if I happen to be hanging around the forum. No charge
