    Ken Dorney Yea, I'm Cool That Way...

    This little gem was in my mailbox today. Many know I am a sucker for base metals and as these dont come up very often I knew I had to have it.

    Lucius Verus, 161-169
    AE As, Rome Mint
    Obverse: IMP CAES L AVREL VERVS AVG, Bare head of Lucius right.
    Reverse: PROFECTIO AVG TR P III S C, Lucius Verus, in military dress, on horse right holding spear, COS II in exergue, field

    That is a wonderful coin. I love the way the emperor is recognisable on these PROFECTIO reverses.

    I have only owned PROFECTIO for Sept. Sev. where he is recognisable too.

    The engraver of the Verus coin was far more skilled than mine especially with the horse. My horse seems to have an extra joint in his raised fore leg.
