Ok, So I bought a few bronzes to give as motivators to students and posted them a few weeks ago. Two LRBs were in the lot- a Valentinian and a Valens. Just this morning I found this one on the living room carpet and I do not know where it came from!? I may be too deep into ancients again for this to be happening. Sorry to you Roman experts but these little LRBs look all alike to me. This one has TESA in the exergue. Can't read the obverse legend but he is pearl diademed. Looks like another Valens to me? or Constans. It is 12mm
The left looks to say "ius pf aug". Making me think it's Constantius ii. But I think you are spot on with the reverse. Either way, if that is a "ius" it rules out Constans.
Mike, looks like an ae4 of Theodosius I with the SALVS REIPVBLICAE reverse, Victory and Captive, from Thessalonika.
Thanks for everyone's help on this and @Brian Bucklan - for pinning it down. It was in a lot of five that I bought on vcoins all for $12.00. It must have fallen out at some point. Now all are identified. Severan era provincial, Valens, Valentinian,Quadrans of Claudius and Theodosius I.
