I am out of my comfort zone with the coins below, so some help would be appreciated. I was hoping to pick up a cast bronze piece in the last CNG e-auction, but I only wanted it second most..... I went looking for some consolation coins to empty my pockets some. The first lot was listed as error coins. fron top left to bottom: Flip-over double strike of Tetricus I; 3.41 grams; 20.6 X 19.5 mm Brockage of Victorinus; 2.70 grams; 18.0 X 17.0 mm Flip-over double strike of Tetricus I (??); 2.20 grams; 20.0 X 18.8 mm L to R Brockage of ???; 1.55 grams; 15.2 X 14.1 mm Brockage of Tetricus II ???; 1.56 grams; 14.1 X 13.5 mm Post your thoughts or LRB error coins PS - the lot also had a widow's mite flip-over double strike.
It's just sad when your consolation bid gets beaten by someone else's consolation bid . Congrats, I thought it was a pretty interesting lot too. The fun of puzzling them out is all yours .
Is the left coin in the second group a brockage? I find it hard to tell from pictures sometimes. It looks like Tetricus I to me, but official? I don't know. I like the widows mite best of the group.
yes, 3 brockages - top left of first group and all of second group. I should have taken separate pics, but was lazy. I find it hard to tell a brockage in photos. I am not exactly sure about the top left coin. It looks like the obverse was pressed into the coin twice and then struck by a reverse die. There was only a little metal in the center of the coin and the reverse features are minimal.
Last its an Alexander Jannaeus, with obverse an reverse, in both sides, dont remember the name of the error.
