april numismatic prices april issue numismatic news prices: 2006 reverse proof - $2,000.00 2006 w $25.00, 1/2 oz - $710.00 2006 w $10.00, 1/4 oz - $365.00
I think if people shift from buying bullion from dealers to the mint website then these coins will soar. The regular bullion mintages are multiples to those.
I think that anyone who speculates on bullion coins should be very wary of future mintages, making the key coins of today the also-rans of tomorrow. If I were speculating on these coins, it would be for the very short term -- about how long it takes to send them to a TPG to be graded and then sold via eBay...Mike
Elaine...I think you got the Reverse proof mixed up with the Proof!! The Rev Proof is going for a minimum in Rev Prf 69 $4325.00...better look again. It is nice having this 3 coin set...I feel lucky to have gotten it!! RickieB

lowest gold am eagle mintage next time, it might come out less than 10,000 mintage for am. eagle gold series. it is a 25th anniversary folks.

From what I have gathered the Mint released updated mintage numbers for these 2006 W coins last month so the low mintages we thought they had are not so low after all. Also it appears the 2007 W sales for the gold UNC are dreary low so this may be a repeat of last year. With sales left of 6 months so far these are the numbers just for the gold 2007 W UNC: One ounce: 7305 1/2 ounce : 5914 1/4 ounce: 6832 1/10 ounce: 15,593 So it seems that the only real seller is the 1/10 as I expect those sales to exceed last year. I doubt the 1 ounce will as there are no sets to bring up the total, the 1/2 and 1/4 are up in thr air. This is what they said the 2006 W UNC gold new numbers were: Gold (single + 4-coin sets) 1oz = 7,200 + 12,775 + 30,000 sets = 49,975 1/2 = 6,075 + 12,775 = 18,850 1/4 = 7,150 + 12,775 = 19,925 1/10 = 12,875 + 12,775 = 25,650
Thanks, I updated the numbers. I said the 2007 W one ounce would be lower but should have reflected the sets in the totals for 2006 W. Now it seems obvious.
where you get those numbers?. your figures for 2006 w am eagle unc gold coins are: one ounce - 49,975 1/2 ounce - 18,850 1/4 ounce - 19,925 1/10 ounce-28,650 my est. figures are: one ounce - 45,839 1/2 ounce - 15,500 1/4 ounce - 15,500 1/10 ounce-21,000
Those are supposedly sales figures released by US Mint on June 5th: they raised the mintage numbers.I thought the 2006 W gold would be great coins but now it looks like these numbers are high to be considered key coins. If the Mint goes ahead with buffalo fractionals this year [not sure if they will or not but I doubt it now] then the 2007 W 1/4, 1/2 and 1 ounce gold may be lower than 2006, with the one ounce being WAYYY lower because of no sets being involved. I think at the end of the year it will be interesting to see what the sales are come around early december. If they are still half of 2006 numbers it might be time to load up on 2007 coins.
The problem with your thinking is that you do not take into account the fact that gold has a small collector base.
confusing figures the sales figure and mintage are two different things. sales figure for 2007 as of june 5 might include 2006 coin sold in 2007 plus 2007 sales.
Well we see the Spouse coins just sold out of 80,000 coins in two hours, my orders are still backup up but I agree with you in the larger picture of this. That is why I don't think these 2006 W unc coins are that great when you look at the numbers. Even if the 2007 W one ounce has a much lower total mintage than 2006, will the 2008 have a lower mintage than 2007? Also the spouse coins and Buffalo series, plus these eagles all means the gold is saturated with sales. So I think the Spouse coins will hurt these 2007W sales so as of now I am not sure if the 2006W will go up in value anytime soon. It may be the 2007 W have low sales and will be better than the 2006 but only time will tell.
