    d_lairson Looking for loose change

After looking around online, and posting on this forurm, I decided to try and put together a couple of "grading" sets of Lincoln cents. The problem that I am running into is finding low grade examples of lincoln cents. I only really collect the memorial cents. This means that the oldest memorial cent I can look for is a 1959. If I want a set of current composition cents, the oldest I can look for is a 1982. I can find the higher grade coins, if I look and want to spend the money, but the low grade ones are impossible to find.

I must have over 200 1982's and I don't know if I would grade one less than a VF. Is it just because the coins have not been in circulation long enough to have that much ware? How long does a cent take to ware down that much?

    Thanks,
    David

    Try this

    Experiment for a month:

Take a coin and rub it like a lucky charm whenever you get bored or while watching tv or whatever. Do that for a month..take a before and after pic. Better yet...do it with both comps and see what happens !!!
